[17 Sept. 2007] The liquid that sometimes leaks from the cooling system of the G5 bi-processors is a very corrosive and potentially dangerous product. In the last few months, this issue has developed on G5 APPLE systems.
Is this problem a poor engineering design, or manufacturing defect of one or more parts? (Possibly incorrect use of the materials that comprise the cooling system, which is unable to handle the corrosive properties of the coolant)?
In any case, the leakage of this liquid results in heavy damage, since it requires the change of the cpu block, the power supply unit located just below and most of the time, damages the motherboard as well.
Let us not forget the corrosive effect of the liquid,and its vapors, which can affect the metal case components of the whole Mac chassis! Not speaking of what you might inhale ! In instances where repair is possible, it will cost over a thousand US dollars.
